Tony Christie Tour Reviews - Page Two

These reviews were originally posted on the message board

Bradford - 10th March

By Siobhan

It was a brilliant night! Caz was amazing as usual!

Me and my Aunty Debbie got the half past 6 train from Pudsey to Bradford. We got to St Georges Hall at about 7pm and went into the bar so my Aunty could get food! At about 7:10pm Joy and Nanna and Jaz came in and we were sat with them until we had to go to our seats.

We were up in the ‘Grand Tier’ which was right up at the top, so we had a great view! There were a few blokes sat next to us, and right at the beginning they were taking and said, “ I wonder who the support act is…they’re usually cr*p” so I butted in and just said “Oh the support act is Carolynne Good..and I guarantee you, she is NOT cr*p” and they just kinda looked at me as if I was strange but I didn’t care that much!

Then Caz came on, and me and my Aunty Debbie were screaming really loudly! Caz was brilliant!
She sung:
I drove all night
Fallen
Underneath It All
The first cut is the deepest
I can’t make you love me
Underneath your clothes
Desparado
Insane
And Against all odds

She went off stage, and then everyone started getting up, so we went down to the bar. When we were going down, we bumped into Caz’s friend Jessica, so we went into the bar with her! She is soooo lovely! Really pretty as well! Then when we were in the bar, Caz came in and came over to where we were standing! She hugged Jess, and my Aunty Debbie, and then she hugged me, and she said: “oh hiya Siobhan! I remember you when you were a baby!” I was just kinda speechless at that point, but then I found some words, and just said “oh wow! You’re amazing!” and she just blushed! Then I got my picture with Caz. Then I told Caz that Dan had said hiya and she just started giggling! (like she does!)

Then I had to go and find Joy for Caz! I think they found each other eventually!

We then went back in for Tony Christie, and he was really good! I was very surprised! There were a few people at the front who were a bit mad, but I was when Caz was on so I just laughed!

Caz came on halfway through Tony’s set for the duet of ‘A Whole New World’ and that was amazing!

Afterwards, we went back on the train with Joy, Jaz and Nanna! We saw Mick when we got off the train in Pudsey!

It was an amazing night and Carolynne was BRILLIANT!! I would do it all over again!!

Bradford - 10th March

By Joy (Carolynne's mum!)

Hi everyone!

Enjoyed Bradford very much as you would all expect

Caz mention to me that it is difficult to get out the front as each venue is different. If she doesn't get to meet with you it is not because she doesnt want to, but sometimes she is dashing to get in the waiting car so he can get home as it is often a long journey for her.

Anyway she said to say hi and thank you very much for the presents. Caz will come on the site when the tour tends to thank you all personally.

Anyway, just about to set off to the venue in Scarborough. We will drop Carolynne off for her sound check and then go get some eats. Looking forward to seeing this show too and seeing our friends that live in Bridlington.

Hi again

Well the show last night in Scarborough was excellent! I thought it was better than Bradford. Sound and lighting much better for Carolynnes set. She is just fab! The friends that we took along had not seen her perform live before and they were blown away (hee hee -I was very proud) She had on a fantastic oufit and just really did look beautiful (sorry, mother going on a bit).

Hey guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
W ent 2 lynn last night - caz was AMAZING! i think i was the only 1
there for her, but she was SO amazing, her voice has really developed,
its so much stronger now and i dont think i heard 1 note that was wrong!!!
Heres what she sang, i think its in the right order, hope i havent missed
anything!!:I Drove All Night - WOAH the best ive heard her sing this, it was flawless, absolutly stunning. I went mad wen she came on, everyone around me mustve thought i was mad!!! i was the first to cheer hehe!!
It actually made me cry too partly cos of caz being there and cos it was
so beautiful!!!

Fallen - ive never heard this song before, but im def gonna download it now, just like caz said, the lyrics are lovely, and she sang it SO well it really suited her voice.

Underneath It All - I was happy she did this song, cos im a huge fan of no
doubt and i heard she didnt sing it on some dates, it was wicked, i loved
her little dances to some of it hehe!! It really suited her voice too!!!

I Cant Make You Love Me - SO glad she sang this song, ive loved it since
i heard her sing it on that clip from the site, it was so beautiful, again,
flawless and the crowd seemed to like it.

Desperado - WOO! another 1 i was really glad she sang!!! It was great to
hear it all the way through, and again the crowd seemed to like it, the
soully style of the song really suited her, itd be nice to hear a studio
version of this!!!The First Cut Is The Deepest - haha when she started to sing this, i was singing along but it didnt click what it was until the chorus came in it took her back to her rocky/country style and it really suited her, again. Underneath Your Clothes - wicked wicked wicked, cheered hard when she sang this and alot of other people WOOOOed when she said she was gonna sing it. she said 'i came 3rd, which is good' lol, when she talked about the Academy, and some dude shouted something like 'i voted for you' (i dont no if thatswhat he actually said lol!!!) and caz said 'haha you and my dad '. this song was flawless as always, probably the best ive heard her sing it along with the final of FA.

Insane - YAY! I love this song SOOO much man, im so glad she did it, its
renewed my love for it all over again, it was great to hear the middle part
of the song too, and to hear the real backing track! before it started caz
said 'this next song is one of my own' and i went WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
and clapped, and she laughed, i hope she didnt think i meant i was bored ofthe covers, lol, it dawned on my afterwards!!! if youre reading this caz, or
joy, i didnt mean it like that, was just so looking forward 2 peoples
reactions and finally hearing the song live!!! and when she said
'this is insane' i went WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOand clapped again and slowly other people started clapping with me *proud* (that happened a few times lmao)

Against All Odds - some cow behind me went 'oh no please dont' when caz said she was gonna sing this, but i think it was gorgeous, just like the rest of them A very well done to Caz for that gig, it was basically flawless, really cant wait for the album which she said would 'hopefully be out next year'.

Caz sounded reaaallly nervous at the start, the introductions i mean, the
singing was flawless, but did seem to relax towards the middle which was
good!!!! she sounded so cute i just wanted to hug her!!!!
She looked GORGEOUS, my seats were quite far back but she looked stunning, white dress with chunky belt, i think it was the same outfit she wore on the 1st night, with wavy hair. I heard alot of people talking about her when i left afterwards. I didnt stay for the duet, cos we were in the middle of an aisle so my mum was like 'i dont really wanan be getting up as soon as carolynne has done the duet' and i didnt wanna sit through TC to be honest with ya lol!!!

Didnt meet caz was VERY gutted about that, had my camera and everything, but the bar was packed in the interval, and i dont think the crowd gave her the recognition she deserved, norfolk golden oldie crowds r pretty hard 2 please for support acts, even though alot of the time when i was going mad and clapped n woooooing some people joined in with me(!!!!)and i did walk down 2 the tour bus but noone was there.

Thats my review of last night!!!!! it was really truely phenomenal, im so
glad ive seen caz now, and i can surely say ill be going with some of u guys whenever she gigs next Im disappointed i didnt meet her but im SO happy that people were talking about her afterwards and that she put on such a good show.

1st April - Doncaster

By Chris

Hey guys! Here’s my review of the AMAZING Carolynne set from the
Tony Christie gig at Doncaster Dome last night! It will probably
be a long and boring review, so get yourself a drink now! lol

I was so chuffed when she came on the stage, cos I’ve never seen her live
before and it was well worth it! But one thing that surprised me about her
set was how quiet and shy she was in between the songs and speaking to the audience, almost whispering. Totally not what I expected!

Anyway here’s my review of the songs : -

I Drove All Night – Good solid song to begin with! Thought she sang it very
well and made a few uninterested people shut up and listen! One woman in front of me said “She’s good isn’t she?!” As if she expected her not to be!

Fallen – Never heard this song before, and it didn’t really like it that much,
but she sang it beautifully! She didn’t leave the microphone stand for either of these songs so I was hoping she’d move around a bit more. Then she did on the next song!

Underneath It All – I’m a huge fan of this song, and was really glad when
I read she was gonna be singing it! It was definitely the best performance
she gave for moving around the stage and connecting with the audience and stuff! Got a big cheer too!

The First Cut Is The Deepest – WOW she really gave it some in this one! I like the song and it really suited her voice and she got even better as the song went on! And most people in the audience seemed to like it too!

I Can’t Make You Love Me – As she introduced this song she said something like “The lyrics of this song mean so much to me at the moment, this is I can’t make you love me” she seemed quite emotional, which concerned me a bit. Either way she sang it beautifully, even though I’m not really a fan of the song.

Underneath Your Clothes – She introduced this song as the ‘song she sang in the Fame Academy Final’ and as ever she sang it amazingly well! I think she sings it better than Shakira and got a huge cheer afterwards! Probably my favourite song that she sings, which isn’t one of hers!

Desperado – She dedicated this song to her Dad (dunno if he was there)which was nice. I LOVE this song anyway, and was so glad she performed it! And seemed to really get into it.

Insane – My fave Caz song! I LOVE THIS SONG! When she introduced it she said, “I wrote this song in the Fame Academy where I was locked in a house for 13 weeks with no outside contact, and no TV. So there’s a reason I called it Insane!” No-one laughed though! By far it was vocally her best performance of the night, and really gave it everything she had, and everybody seemed to love it and got a nice reception from the crowd. Definitely the best of the night!!

Against All Odds – Nice to hear her sing this song, cos as she said it’s been
covered a thousand times! Good way to end her set and she got a nice warm applause afterwards, but I think most people just wanted to see Tony.

Also, how amazing was the guy on the saxophone?! He got a big cheer at the end too! Then it was the interval and I went straight to the bar and waited for 20 mins to see if Caz came, but she didn’t although it wasn’t really a real bar, it was just a homemade kind of one in the main entrance, so I didn’t think she’d go. I then got sat down again for Tony’s set and got chatting to the 2 old ladies next to me (cos I was on my own) and told them I’d only come to see Carolynne, and we talked about Fame Academy and how well Lemar’s done (he’s performing on the same stage at Doncaster next week!) and how Alex has disappeared. But she didn’t remember Caz from the show! They then convinced me to stay for the whole Tony set, which I did! Lol.

A Whole New World – This was probably the 2nd best performance of the night for me. Caz was amazing singing Disney! And she and Tony really sang well together and more people took photos when they were both on stage together, than when Tony was on his own! So they must’ve liked it! And she got an even bigger cheer afterwards (amazing what singing with Tony can do!). I think they should release this song, cos it would easily get to No.1 and as Tony said it’s never been released as a single.

I then went to the toilet after this to see if Caz was leaving, I waited a while but didn’t get to meet her which I was GUTTED about! Then I went and watched the rest of Tony! And he was quite good! And was only on for another hour after their duet, he mainly sang covers too, like lotsa Beatles songs and Swing songs.
And every person was on their feet dancing to Amarillo, and Benny Hill came on stage with the ostrich thing like in the video LOL.
Tony said it was the best concert of his life! And he wasn’t just saying that,
cos it’s his home gig and allllllll his family and friends were there and it
was very rowdy! I then waited outside in the cold for a further 10 minutes to see if Carolynne was there, but she must’ve gone! I REALLY wanted to meet her, but never mind!

Overall it was an amazing night, and I hope I can get to more Carolynne gigs in the future, and she MUST start releasing some stuff soon!!!

Chris
