Mo's Carolynne Encounter

I did a piece of fanwork initially to send to her at the Academy. It took a bit longer to do than I had planned and time was running out.

I finally finished it the night before the trio were due to play Birmingham NEC. So, as my partner and I were off for the week we decided at the last minute, on the Thursday morning we would drive down there to see Caz and Alex - my partners fav (tho she is also a huge Caz fan too) :)

We drove from Glasgow down to the NEC (a seven hour drive!) and made it there with a ten minutes to spare before the show was due to start! We were disappointed to see how few people had turned up, but I guess it was a bit harder for folks to get to than the gangs other 'gigs' at Covent Garden etc
We had a nice spot at centre stage tho' not up at the front. We both waved our respective banners (I'd printed them out on A3 paper!) and had a great time.

As with all 'fans' they think their fav' gets to look directly at them, but I'm pretty sure that Carolynne noticed her banner and smiled.
Even tho' we've heard Carolynne sing live every week on tv, to hear her live in person' blew us away, she has a wonderful voice. We could listen to herall night long. It was over all too soon.

We didn't bother hanging around as we thought the security would have been high and we probably missed them meeting the crowds at the start. We had planned to give Carolynne and Alex the banners ;)

We were too knackered to drive all the way home so we found a hotel and stayed the night. In the morning we decided to send the banners and a little note to Carolynne and Alex telling them the tale I'm telling you now, and that how much fun it had been at the ripe old age of 34 and 43 we crossed the country to see a them :) We put them in the post and hoped they would get to the Academy before the finale - or even in the hope that they would eventually get them. (I doubt they ever did tho')
When we got home we watched the FA News on BBC3 that we had taped while we were gone and saw the footage from the NEC gig. There in the distance I saw Carolynne's banner, and when Alex was on they did a real close up of the banner I did of her. :) It even made it to the finale show :)
I wasn't going to watch FA this year but while channel hopping I came
acrossthe show and at that minute Carolynne had just started singing. I called my partner into the lounge to look at her as I thought she was the image of Lucy Lawless (Xena on tv!) after the initial kidding around about herlikeness to Lucy we sat glued to the screen just listening to her voice. That was it, I was hooked from then on.
