Message from Carolynne (14/12/05)
This is a message from Carolynne, it is in reply to all
the recent comments and posts made about "The Carolynne
Good Band" on the message
board.
Hey guys!!
So then, been reading through some of your posts and I tell
ya what... you lot crack me up! Some fair comments though
and all of them are much appreciated, but you know me, I
say what I think and I don’t mix my words so I’m
gonna come right back at ya with my answers to some of your
questions and my point of view so get ready!!
First of all, I just want to thank everyone that came out
to see me on the tour. It was wicked to see some familiar
faces and your support means the world, especially on this
new project that I have been working so hard on. I've loved
every minute of the tour, I didn’t want it to end.
As some of you know I have had an especially difficult year
personally, also professionally some tricky situations to
iron out, so to finally be in a place where I can give my
work 100% stand on stage singing my own songs with my own
band and not give a s@#t about anything else is the best
feeling in the world!!
I know I’ve not posted for a long time and things
have been a bit slow on the info front. But with everything
that has changed this year I have been asked and agreed
that I don’t confirm or deny anything until we have
made it official.
Even the TC tour was a trial for me and the band. People
only get confused if you say one thing then go back on it
and with all the other politics c@#p that goes with stuff
I came to the decision to confirm things after xmas. Of
course I would give you any information I can but there
are some things I just wanna get right first before I declare
it.
I've spent most of this year locked away writing and trying
a whole bunch of new songs and ideas and this is extremely
important to me. Without intentionally upsetting anyone
I really don’t wanna be just another bird in a dress
singing pretty songs nicely. But on the other hand, I don’t
wanna try and be a depressing angst queen singing bout the
world gone rotten just coz it sounds 'cool' I am what I
am and I’m doin what I’m doin coz it makes me
happy and I’m not trying to please anyone else. You
can never ever please everyone so don’t try to people,
it only gets ya in a mess! Be you and express it however
ya want to that’s what I think and that’s what
I’m trying to do!
Where I am right now with my writing and my songs I feel
the most comfortable and at home than I have in a long time.
I love the music I love the band so if people are on my
wavelength... jump aboard the train baby!!
I've got a lot to say and it takes time for me to express
this in songs. What some of you may not realise is that
writing something for yourself and putting down into words
my personal feelings and the message I’m trying to
express, is not something I can comfortably do with just
anyone. its intimate, it’s personal and without sounding
like a complete hippy it’s precious. Bit of a far
cry from writing something wacky and fun like 'Made For
You' which was done in one afternoon with songwriters I’d
only just met that morning. Not that that’s a bad
thing or anything, I’m just trying to explain the
different process. What I’m trying to say is that
the relationship formed with Don {the bass player who I
have written alot of the songs with} and the band didn’t
just happen overnight, it has been a gradual process as
has my relationship with my new management. Therefore this
has been time consuming. I have just been finding my feet
and making sure I’m happy and all's good before I
spoke about anything.
Sorry if I’ve p'd anyone off by not posting so often
or interacting with you as much as you'd like, but you guys
know how quiet and personal I keep about things till I know
they're for sure and if I’m in the studio for 6 months
then that’s totally where my head's at and there really
ain’t that much else to tell ya. I’m sure some
of the other sites you go on the guys give you all their
little details but the members on this site are fab coz
you're music fans and I’m sure you'd prefer it that
I speak out when I’ve got something interesting to
say, rather than how many times I’ve been to the loo
today!
If it makes u guys feel any better, I’ve not even
played my family any of the new stuff. I've kept so quiet
about it coz I wanted to see their reaction after the tour
and feed from that. They only heard maybe one or two snippets
of a few new tracks before the tour that’s how quiet
I’ve been about everything. I hope that being this
intimate and honest in this post means more than a quick
'Hi guys, just another boring msg to say nothin' every now
and then!
I do speak to Sarah and I have an enormous amount of gratitude
and respect for her so please don’t worry about her
involvement in future site plans!!
The band and the musicians that I surrounded myself with
ain’t just some buskers I found on the underground
y'kno. Sean and myself have put a lot of time and effort
into this and made sure we've got the right people. I was
going to introduce them to the site after xmas but seen
as though you're on my case already I’ll tell ya a
bit about em now! He He!
Don Rogers is the bass player who I have spent the most
time with before the band came together. We have spent a
lot of time writing together and trying out new ideas. Don
has played a major roll in putting this band together and
getting everything started. He is also a fantastic writer
and producer and you'll usual find him wearing some kind
of cowboy hat! Ha!
Alex Rogers is his brother who is one of the most talented
songwriters I have met in a long time. And I don’t
say that very often coz I’m tight with the nice songwriting
comments! Some of the songs I have recorded are ones he
has written. He plays guitar along side Alex Sharmen who
together were London based band 'Starling' He's an exceptional
guitar player and both he and Alex R play wicked together.
You all know Sean Fitzgerald is my manager and also Tony's,
but before that he was a drummer and he's the bloody best
that’s why he's playing for us. Like I said before,
its a personal project and its gotta be just right. We ain’t
about to get just anyone because we're fine tuning our own
sound it aint gonna be like anything else.
Maki Owen plays keys, she was the final member of the band
joining just before the tour. She is a fantastic player,
classically trained so brings that extra little something
to our live performance.
Along with everything I have mentioned about the band,
they are wonderful people and fantastic friends I am very
lucky to be involved with them all. I hope all you guys
on this site who have followed me in the past can continue
being supportive of us all and have faith in the decisions
we make for the future!
And one last thing before I go... What's ya problem with
the name eh?? The Carolynne Good Band tells you exactly
what it is without question. Tell me one other band that
has done that? Cack or not it has got your attention, if
it had been something else someone would have had something
to say about it. So like I said before, ya can’t please
everyone. Suppose we could have sat for hours thinking of
a cheesy name with some strange hidden meaning... or, we
could spend our time more productively and write a bloody
song!! To me it’s more weird to try and think of something
that sounds 'cool!' Just say it like it is I say... 'The
Carolynne Good Band' THERE! What's not to understand? You'll
get ya head round it so give it time coz unless something
hits me out of nowhere that’s what it’s staying.
How many people thought 'The Spice Girls' was cack?? Its
just the same but different!!
Anyway, you lot have a fab xmas and a happy new year! See
ya on the next tour which I’m certain will be in the
near future!
Take care
Carolynne x
Just a quick note... Please all go out and get yourself

Everyone' Tony has shown an enormous amount of support towards
me over the past year so if anyone wants to help get rid
of that bloody crazy frog like I do, please go get yourself
a copy!!
